The sound of my crash made the zombies outside the front windows whip up into a frenzy and they started banging on the glass. Luckily they seem to be slowing down again so I think the windows should hold.
I rigged some makeshift torches and once I was back on the roof I started to experiment with the zombies down below. I threw some torches out into a crowd as far away from the store as I could. I just wanted to see how they would react.
No matter how mindless they seem, the zombies have enough sense to avoid fire. Or at least they avoid the actual flame. Otherwise they seem to be attracted to the warmth of it. I threw a couple of torches out and a huddle of zombies formed around each one. Like hobos warming up around a trash can fire.
As I watch, it seems the ones huddled around the fires are more animated than the ones out in the cold and I wonder how temperature affects them. I looked back over my past journal entries remembering the sluggish zombies in my neighborhood on a cold night.
I’m not sure exactly how yet, but I imagine this knowledge will be my key to escaping this place.
