Week 7: To the Sea

I got the boat and said goodbye to the Bryants (and left them my trusty scooter). Now I am making my way through the Gulf of Mexico. I’m not sure but I think there may have been water mines after the wall sunk beneath the water. As I approached it I could see shadows under the surface and there was wreckage from burned/bombed out boats floating all around. I decided to take the boat as far out as I could, while still keeping land within my sight, then cross over.

Oh, and the zombies can’t swim but they can float. They're all over the place, just bobbing in the water like rotting buoys. A couple of times I had to beat them off the boat when a lucky one happened to get a handhold of the side.

I am not sure how far south I should go before going back to land. It sounds like I should probably try to bypass the whole central Florida area altogether. Out in the open water I have no idea how far I’ve traveled. How will I know when to return to land? When I run out of gas?

The boat has a small cabin, a mattress, and an anchor. I think I will spend the night on the water watching meat puppets dip and rise in the waves, highlighted by the reflecting moon light. Then maybe I’ll get some sleep.
