Week 10: Building a Better Zombie Trap

Next door to the Great Stay Hotel is a fast food joint and behind that is a dumpster. This dumpster is surrounded on three sides by a cinder block wall. On the front is a chain link gate.

I’ll remove the dumpster and add a top to the cinder block box that the dumpster once resided in. I’ll have to have some sort of escape hatch in the roof of the box that I can climb through and lock behind me. I’ll use myself as bait, lure the zombies into the prison I constructed, escape out the back and run around front to lock them in.

Wow, now that I have written this down it sounds like an absolutely stupid idea.

Fuck it. I don’t have the time or the know-how to come up with something better. I just hope those zombies are as stupid as I am.

Stuff I Need:
• Chain link fencing
• Plywood
• Concrete anchors
• Wire
• Chain
• Padlock
• Sledge hammer
Hook and eye lock or similar latch
• Escape vehicle (plan B)
• Better shot gun – pump action

I saw a hardware store and a pawn shop on my way into town. I’ll spend the rest of the day gathering supplies for my zombie trap.

Your best line yet, i believe.

Hahaha, thanks... I think. :)

Lines like that seem so out of place. You're getting sucked into the story, your imagination is running, then BAM. A line like that reminds you that this isn't "just" a story, it's someone's journal. It doesn't throw off the story, just pulls you out to the level of observer. I hopoe I'm making sense, it's very late and I just got home from work.

Haha, I love this entry!! I think it's puts a little of the character's sarcastic humor back into the tragic story line

WitchDr13 - Thanks for the feedback. Makes perfect sense. I'll keep that in mind for future posts.

L Kel - Glad you like it. Sometimes you just have to grin and bear it.
