Week 24: Assault on the Hospital

I began by trying to get as many zombies to chase me out the front door as possible. I had my van running and waiting about 50 yards away from the hospital. I barely made it to the Dead Dozer in time. I then proceeded to plow through the line of zombies that had been trailing me.

I repeated this about three times. The last time only five zombies came chasing after me, so I figured it was time to get up close and personal.

I entered the hospital and started to make my way through it systematically. I would enter a room, clear it of any zombies, and then lock it down. With a magic marker I would then mark that room so I would know it had already been cleared. About three hours after I started I was only half way into the second floor, exhausted, and about to run out of ammo.

I had seen some signs for the main pharmacy on the fourth floor so I decided to just make a run for it. As I raced up the stairway a small horde of zombies began to follow me. I burst out onto the fourth floor and sprinted down the hallway. Meat puppets began emerging from the hospital rooms that lined the walls. The horde behind me grew exponentially.

I found the pharmacy tucked away on the southwest corner of the building. At the entrance there was a set of double doors, a short hallway, another set of double doors, then the pharmacy. I made it through the first set of doors just as the horde was about to overtake me. I slammed the doors shut and engaged the manual locks at the top and bottom.

When the wave of zombies hit the doors I swear I could see them bulge inward with the pressure. I could hear the zombies at the front of the wave literally being pressed and ground into the barrier. Black-red mush began to ooze through the edges of the door. I scurried through the second set of doors and locked those as well. Immediately I began pushing anything and everything I could in front of the doors in order to brace them.

As I was doing this I heard the first set of doors buckle. There was a loud thud as the horde crashed into the second set of doors.

I tore through the pharmacy as fast as I could, my mind racing in all directions. Where are the pain meds? How do I get out of here? What do I do next?

I found a glass case off to the side that had been broken open. This was where the pain meds had been store. HAD been stored. Instead of pain meds I found a note.

Dear Mr. Taylor,

I lied.
