A smaller deer stampede came through again today. Harvey was ready this time (maybe he was waiting for them) and managed to kill a buck for dinner. Edith said that Harvey could have killed another but we wouldn’t be able to eat it all and the second one would spoil before we got to it. Edith speaks for Harvey a lot.
So we set up camp a little earlier than usual and decided to have a big meal since the deer would not keep for long.
We found an abandoned restaurant with an elevated and fenced in patio to stay in. Matthew and I procured a grill with a half full propane tank for Edith to cook on. Brenda even came upon a backyard garden that still had some lettuce, onions and collards in it.
And I must confess, Edith sure can cook. It doesn’t matter what you give her she can turn it into a meal and a half. Better than the chicken and dumplings she made when I first met her.
