Week 2: The News Today

The government actually admitted there was a problem on this day. They blamed it on some kind of new flu strain (dubbed Southern Influenza). “In addition to normal flu-like symptoms you may experience red hives, sensitivity to cold temperatures, fatigue and a slowing of the heart rate.” The CDC calmly stated that a vaccination was in the works.

The news was quickly overshadowed by a political scandal involving a senator, a B-list actress and some supposed sex tape.

Honestly now that I look back on it, there probably never was a sex tape. Senator Reitman was probably just taking one for the team. Doing his part (cooperatively or against his will) to bury the “flu” story and buy the government some time. I mean, before the scandal it was popular belief that Reitman was gay anyway, right?
