Week 5: While I Was Away

Now we are back to the present day and week 5 of my incarceration in hell. While I was taking care of Maria I lost track of the world around me. Apparently while I was away that world collapsed.

It is freaking cold out and the power doesn’t seem like it is going to come back on. Phones (LAN and cell) all seem to be dead. There are no TV or radio stations. After exploring the neighborhood I would estimate 80% of the houses are vacant. Where did everyone go?

Then there are the zombies. I would say 20 to 30 come through the neighborhood a day. They are aggressive but slow and easy to avoid. In fact it is odd. They are much slower than… other zombies I encountered early on.

Next I will go and get Matthew. I can’t allow myself to consider that he is anything but alive. Last we heard he and his classmates were with officials from the National Guard and were going to be moved to Patrick Air Force Base.

I’ll spend today fortifying the house so there is something to come back to once I find Matthew. After that I will gather some gear and head to Fort Patrick.
