Week 7: The West Coast of Florida

I followed the wall to the coast. It literally goes all the way into the water. And the zombies continue along with it, or at least until it is too deep for them to stand. I’m not sure if they can swim or not, I didn’t want to get close enough to find out.

From there I started exploring north along the coast and came across the Bryant family. They consist of the dad (Greg), mom (Terri), a daughter (Claire), and Greg’s sister Kirsten. The family had lost their son, Jason Bryant to the flu and they were very sympathetic to my situation.

They fed me, are letting stay the night, and in the morning Greg is going to take me to a neighbor’s boat that he knows is available. Figure I can use it to get around the edge of the wall and all those zombies.

The Bryants also filled me in on what they knew regarding central Florida and the blockade. Basically there was a huge outbreak in Orlando and Tampa. The army set up a perimeter on the north and south sides to try and contain it. Everyone still alive and uninfected was evacuated (or at least told to evacuate) and then the area became a war zone.

Greg said they could hear explosions for three days straight. He also said the sky to the south glowed red for at least a week and smoke filled the area. He tried to describe the smell but began to tear up and had to stop talking about it.

His parents had lived in Tampa and did not evacuate.
