Week 36: A Country Boy Can Survive

Our trek is at a snail’s pace as we try to maneuver this massive rig through the backwoods of north Georgia.

As we drive through the country I find one thing, well, curious I guess. There are a lot of survivors out here. The population isn’t dense, but just about every farm we pass by has signs of inhabitance. Fresh crops growing, fortified fences, laundry hung out to dry. Hell a couple of times we saw people just out in the fields working as if nothing was wrong. Maybe they don’t even know that there has been a zombie apocalypse.

I guess these people are used to living off the land and providing for themselves. And since the farms are on large tracts of land, maybe the diluted population keeps the zombie swarms to a minimum.

Why would the zombies try to overrun these little farms with shear numbers? They may be successful but the food they gain would not be enough to feed the whole army. Unlike a city where all the food massed together making it worthwhile to congregate en masse.

Or perhaps I am giving the zombies too much credit to their intelligence.

I can’t stop thinking that Deliverance was filmed somewhere around here. When I close my eyes I hear Dueling Banjos.
